I'm an old member, and have been off doing my stuff for many years. I've had turkeys before, and never came into this problem before. Want to know if anyone else has, and if there's a solution I haven't thought of.
I currently have a Black-winged Bronze gobbler and a Regal Red hen. They're both a year and a half old. The problem is the gobbler doesn't seem to be able to figure out WHICH end of the hen to breed her from. She'll squat for him, and he'll attempt to mount, stepping on her neck and head and getting on her sideways - and he'll be SO misaligned and clumsy - that she'll get fed-up with him stepping on her front-parts and jump up and run - leaving him to jack himself in the grass.
Now HOW do I help - so this season's eggs are fertile??
Yes, I've attempted the AI method, but he clenches up when I have him, and I can't get him to relax and cooperate. Viagra?? :/
