Can you force hens to go broody?

I have some hens that lean toward being broody but I am not sure. Can I just seperete one with a pile of eggs and see if they go for it? Especially one that sits in the hen house nest for hours.
I would like for some to go broody and raise some chicks.

maybe try her in a coop/pen/crate by herself with a few eggs and see how she reacts. maybe shes intimidated by the others being around or something? i wish i had your problem.. i couldnt get my orpington OFF the nest full of blank eggs (we dont have a roo)
