canary birds eyes infection

Hello. I had a male canary that has a marvellous sound. I bought him 2 weeks ago a female in order to breed. It seems she has an eye infection and it transfer the infection to the male. I asked the man from which i bought her. He gave me an eye drop . Saying that it will get well soon. My friend told me to use fucidine ointment but am worried if it will get worse. Any device plz?

No idea, but in future Quarantine new birds before putting it with healthy bird. I hope your birds are better. There are Canary groups that might have better info.

I have 2 excellent bird vets here in CA. I hope your Canaries survive and get well. That looks painful.

I have raised Canaries for many years. I have found that I use Colloidal silver in their eyes as often as every 4 hours and within a day all infection has cleared. I also use colloidal first thing in the morning after taking their water dish away over night both in Spring and Fall so that it alleviates any problems with cocidadosis(?) Good luck your birds are very pretty. Are they American singers?
