cats scared of chickens and chickens killed kitten! what should i do????

ok,our cats are extremely afraid of the chickens after they killed our kitten and now are trying to steal they're food even when i give them two five-gallon buckets of food hay in the coop and fresh cold water. heeeeeeeeellllllllllppppppp!!!!!!!!!

Are the chickens free ranged? Putting them in a run would help...

Keep the birds locked up while you feed the cats. My chickens will beat up the cats if that means they get their food too. Chickens are ruthless.

If you can't put the hens in an enclosed area (with a roof section so they can't fly over), then the other option is to put the cats in an enclosed area. If you can't separate them there's really no other option but survival of the fittest.

Chickens will eat anything they can find or catch including each other. I have never had them kill a kitten but if the kitten couldn't get away it wouldn't surprise me. I have seen them chase down, kill, and eat snakes, frogs, small birds, and mice. You need to find a way to keep them separate. You might see if you can fix something that the cats can get into but the chickens can't and put the cat food there.

I am a chicken lover but... Some Chickens are ruthless and when it comes to food- heartless over everything! So sorry about your kitten!!
