On Monday we introduced 3 chicks to our broody hen and all have settled in well. They are approx 4 days old. I’m concerned for one of the chicks as they seem a lot sleepier than the others (the others regularly come out for food and play on top of mum etc) but this one chick prefers to stay under mum or when it’s out, stand there with its eyes closed. It also doesn’t make much of a fuss when you pick it up and is quite happy to sleep in your hands. I witnessed it poop 3 times yesterday and it was a liquid like poop with almost a mucus like consistency. Today it has now changed to a red/orange colour but still has a similar gelatinous consistency. Should I be concerned about this? I don’t want to lose any of them and if it’s coccidiosis or worms I’d rather know sooner rather than later so that I can put them all on medication to stop it from spreading.

Do you think I should give the medication to mum and the other two chicks as well to prevent them from getting it??

They’re just on chick crumb at the moment.

I’ve ordered some medicine which should be arriving in a few days but for now I’ve put a little acv into their water to give them a boost.
