Chicken Breed Focus - Brahma

Pics
My Light Brahma came at me kind of nervously once....I chased him around that run until I grabbed him and pinned him to the ground. I don't think his heart was in attacking me but I didn't want him thinking he could get that bold. I held him down till he was calm. The next day I knocked him off a hen cause I was still feeling a little .....proactive. That was about 3 months ago. He stays way out of my way now and when I have had to catch him and doctor his feet lately once I finally catch him he stands like an angel. He is quite a bruiser, he reaches half way up my thigh and is a scardey cat that is easy to have around. I wouldnt trust him unsupervised with my 5 year old niece since she is not much taller then him but I would not be the least worried about him with someone that is taller than him now.

Thanksfor your reply, when I got him I was told that his breed is docile and there good to keep with kids. I have 9 and 10 year old children, both girls, who love him to bits but I am afraid Blue (my cockerels name) will hurt them. My girls let blue out in the mornings and cuddle him. however this morning he very cheekily pecked at my leg when went out and worried in case this will lead to further aggression. When pecked I immediately turned around and told him off.Not sure what else to do because I dont want to make matters worse. Does your cockerels peck you and otherwise be fine or do you know if this will progress and can cockerels with huge feathered feet jump at you, as thiscwould be rather scary thanks.

One of my buff brahma bantams

Picked up week old chicks 4 weeks ago from a Farm Supply store. They told me they had Delaware and White Leghorns, so I took 1 of each. I noticed when I got home that the "Delaware had feathered feet... After some head scratching I was thrilled to realize that I had a Light Brahma. Happy to read all the great reviews on this breed.

I have two Light Brahmas, and a Buff Bantam Brahma, each about two months old! So far they've been great, although one i suspect to be a rooster has tried to peck me a bit!
(Will post pics later!)

We just recently got two lovely Brahma pullets. 1 is a sweet Buff Brahma my daughter named Mocha and plans to use for a 4-H bird. She is a snuggly girls and my daughter loves it.

The other is a light Brahma who we just got. She is almost ready to start laying based on her redder comb and bigger size. We haven’t had her long enough to get a sense of her personality yet. She is a big girl!
