Thanks for the well wishes... it is soft tissue damage. He even thought he saw some bruising. She will be able to go outside once the weather is a bit warmer and she has some time to heal. It is fair to her to give her time with quiet and warmth to heal up.
I am thinking that she fell or some other hen pushed her off the roost. Now, I took care of that last weekend by changing the roost down to 18 inches off the ground. I have full bodied birds and don't want any more injuries.
She sure eats well and seems healthy except for the leg.

May I ask what happened that you had to put her down? Was there no change in condition or did it get worse? I currently have a 4 week old chick that suddenly can't walk.
