Chicken coop design

I may be mistaken, but Canada makes me think lots of snow..

I live in South western British Columbia. We just had the worst "winter "in several years which meant -11C on the coldest night and just over 2 inches of snow that stayed for a couple weeks. Yesterday was partly cloudy and 7c. I expect my girls will be out in the run most days of the year. I do however have the coop and run against a fence on one side and am likely going to take your advice and enclose the end furthest from the coop, leaving only one side of the run completely exposed. Thanks for the input everyone. Will post pictures in a few days.

I think if you're planning to free range your chickens, then the run is fine. Having more run space doesn't hurt, especially on those day when they are confined due to bad weather.

OK. So here is the almost finished product. Sand over drain Rock in the run. 4x5 coop and 5x12 run. Half of run roof is a 2.5x8 planter box for veggies and chicken treats. A huge thank you to everyone on BYC for the great info
