chicken coop

i have a question i only have two banty chickens one rooster and a hen how big of a chicken do i need? all i have seen on the internet is big ones will a bird house do?

If you look on page two of this thread and look up "ugly chicken tractor"...you will see that most anything will work. It doesn't have to be fancy if you don't want it to be. Or there is a real nice playhouse that someone has turned into a coup. You are only limited to your imagination.

Well I can tell you that I need 4 square feet per chicken. Mine are standard size. If memory serves me correctly you need like 1 1/2 to 2 square feet for banties. Best of luck to you.

All you really need is a dog house, preferably with a door you can secure at night, or even a tractor. A tractor is a small portable coop you can move around the yard. You can go to BYC Home and search for tractors or even google "chicken tractors" to get lots of ideas.

If you live in a hot climate I don't recommend locking the birds up in a dog house unless you have lots of ventilation.
