Just a quick question....my chickens seem to love grass and eat as much of it as they can. They are confined to a run and the grass has long since gone from under them, but occasionaly they will go out by the gate where theres grass and will eat it up. I think they know what is good for them and not, but is it possible for them too eat too much since grass is considerly tougher than other greens and would take longer to digest. Should i cut keep them away from it, or do other peaples chickens do the same?????

When I cut my grass, I dump a catcher bag full of clippings in each run. They LOVE scratching through the clippings and eating them and finding the odd grass hopper or cricket. I've done this for several years and never had any troubles. I'm of the opinion that chickens instinctively know what they can eat and what they can't; And how much of something they can eat or can't. Maybe that's just me.
