Hello All!

I absolutely love this website. I often browse around but I just had enough time to join as a member. Looking forward to it! I currently live in Loomis Ca; however, I am buying a house in Rocklin Ca and it is within city limits. It isn't quite a quarter of an acre but I cannot leave my chickens behind. I am having trouble locating the area that discusses chickens on the rocklin city website. Does anyone know the limitations on how many you can have if any at all? I would greatly appreciate any help!

Thank you,

Summer

In Rocklin you are allowed up to 10 chickens:

We have four chickens in our backyard coop and run, we've at least 3 neighbors that border our property with chickens as well.

The only other restrictions would be if your house is in a community with an HOA.

Help, Rocklin animal control payed me a visit today thanks to my nasty neighbor. I understood the ordinance in Rocklin to state that the enclosure must be keep sanitary and weatherproof and must be kept 20 feet from the property line and from any inhabited building which it is. Rocklin is saying the chickens have to be kept in there at all times and that my quarter acre lot is not big enough. My other neighbors with chickens have smaller yards. My neighbors said it was just the enclosure and ordinance doesn't say anything about the chickens not being allowed to be free roaming. Anybody else in Rocklin deal with code enforcement on this one? Thanks

The best thing you can do is stop by your state thread and do some chatting with your chicken neighbors...https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/565482/california-the-whole-state-thread

Good luck and I hope you can get this resolved soon. :)
