chicks and molting question

My Pillet's will be 20 the first of octber. Will they begin to lay then or will they molt like the older hens?

The pullets will not experience their first "big" molt at this point - the first big molt generally happens around 18 months of age.

My spring chicks usually start laying the fall they were hatched, and lay through until they have a major molt the following fall, around 18 months. they may have mini-molts during that time, but it does not effect laying.

I was wondering about this myself; my chicks are right around the same age. Glad you asked it!
