Cleaning out the coop - dust

I have a large coop, in fact its a house I'm using to keep 300 red star layers in.
As bedding / floor I am using rice husk, as its free where I am and easy to come by.

I have noticed an increasing amount of dust around each room on window ledges etc.

How often should I clean out this dust and if I used a vaccuum cleaner would the noise freak out the chickens?

Yes the noise will freak them out, they're chicken. Wont hurt them though.

You should wear a dust mask.

I use a shop vac in my coop at least once a month. My chickens are used to loud noises so it doesn't bother them, but YES definitely wear a dust mask. The first time I dusted my coop I didn't and ended up with dust pneumonia.
