I have heard that you are supposed to pluck the feathers around the vent of the LF Cochin hen for breeding purposes if so how much? And do we do the same for the rooster?

Some people do that to increase fertility odds. (Including myself)
I did it to my rooster and ask my hens, and it worked great!

They are not long. But I’m not sure how much to remove around the vent. Like a small size or bigger?

You'll want to trim about an inch around the while vent. And adv of length, you'll want to trim enough do you can't clearly see the vent without moving any feathers.

*Personally* I wouldn't, because I wouldn't want to select for birds who have been so highly-selected for an ornamental trait that they are incapable of carrying out their natural functions anymore. Instead, I'd breed from the ones who are capable of breeding without my intervention in this area.

But if you're breeding for show it's not people like me who wrote the standards so you'll have to trim feathers if the fluff that meets the SOP is preventing fertilization.
