looks like you may be correct, but only time will tell forsure, one thing i wanted to add, i see some nice tight wings on those whites, thats what you want, tips of wings should be tucked under the saddle feathers on a good cochin. i am assuming since you hatched these eggs these arent your everyday hatchery cochins, so my question, are these from your line or did you order the eggs? and from who did you order them if that is the case?

There from my line. But i originally got them from a breeder who lives local, shes had this line for years and always does well at shows. She really likes me and gave me some .
Im glad they look good! thanks :)
I should have hatching eggs either this fall or spring.

Edited to add there only the F2 generations, so they technically arnt my line, do you know how many generations until they are your line?

No kidding. I tried feather-sexing my latest batch - based on the rate that they feathered in, I should have had 2 cockerels and 6 pullets. Turns out, the three that feathered in the fastest were all cockerels, and one of the slow-feathering ones was a pullet - so I ended up with 4 cockerels and 4 pullets.

Definitely not 100%.

I go by comb, not feathering. You can certainly tell the pointed, bigger, more colored combs of the boys early on.
I have a few white bantam Cochin chicks out running with the flock that look as feathered as yours. I just don't take the time to tell the gender on the kids until they are a few months old. Can't use them til then anyhow and I hate to sell anything really good so they stay around until they are several months old for me to see if I want them for breeding or not. I must say, mine are doing a lot better raised by the hens than in those stuffy old brooders.

Thanks a bunch!
I'm amazed at how the white's feathers are so smoothed and rounded together.
He looks about like he was carved; not many stray feathers on that bird at all.
Hopefully that doesn't change when he molts a time or two!

6 bantams. 5 and a half weeks old.

roos or pullets?

i was hoping for all girls... but 1 i am certain is a roo, i hope no more are!

do you mean bye points like the individual points are easier to seE?

I think she means by size of the points - the points get taller and bigger in the cockerels - and color - the cockerels combs start to turn red pretty early on, while the pullets stay yellow or pink. I was able to sex all of mine by their combs by around 6 weeks (except for two questionable ones that took 8 weeks).
