In the Brooder
I live in Greenville, SC. I have 2 Cuckoo Marans, both just turned 1 year old. They weathered this past Winter which dipped to 15-20 degrees with no problem. As they were young, I provided them suitable shelter during the handful of freezes we had, but other than that they did just fine without heat lamps or anything additional, other than a dry place to come in from the cold or to lay eggs. Mostly, they preferred to just frolic and roost in the winter weather. I have a 2 month Buff Orpington which will be facing her first Winter here as well in a few months.
**To date, about 1.2 yrs I have collected 203 eggs from these two.
