ok so It all started when I had some chicks that didn't hatch, I looked in the egg and they were dead but fully developed. So I started thinking, what could the cause be, and I remembered mycoplasma. They say mycoplasma can be transmitted from parents to embryos, and the embryos die about the 20 day mark. My stock have been around sick chickens, but as far as I know have never showed signs of having mycoplasma. I am planning on getting some new chickens, and I do not want to transmit diseases to them. I am willing to get rid of my existing birds, if they could have it. But If they do have it I figure I will have to disinfect the coop, and my coop has a dirt floor. So I would need to build a new coop. So my question basically are:
A) could the parent stock have mycoplasma?
B) what are other things the chicks, could have died from?
C) what do I do about the coop if they do have it? Build a new one or could I keep my existing coop.
Something to note, some of the chicks that died siblings hatched.
Thank you.
