Cream Legbar Club -- WWIT

Hello!
frow.gif
I'm new to the breed but want to get started in earnest. I have a single nice rooster and eggs from two unrelated flocks in the bator. I'm hoping to find lots of help in this thread concerning conformation and coloring.
so it must be almost hatch time---- Let us know how it goes. Good luck!!!

Yes. If I remember correctly they have imported four different flock lines now, chicks from the fourth were just released last month. GaryDean26 knows more about the specifics. There is another farm in the Rocky Mountains, in Utah I think, that has imported their own line but their flock is closed right now. Maybe someday they will open and we will have another source. But for now all legally imported Cream Legbars source to Greenfire Farms. (I am unaware of any illegal lines, not to say it doesn't happen though just covering my bases.

Thanks. So if I wanted a breeding trio, or even just some chicks from two different lineages in the hopes of finding a breeding-worthy cockerel from one line and a quality hen or two from the other - where would I get them?

The Cream Legbar Club has started a Membership Directory for members who choose to be included, you could start there or use the PM feature here on BYC and send messages to people who have birds in the Cream Legbar threads that look good to you. The Directory just got started so it's not very large yet. Associate members may be included by name and state; full members will have contact information. Follow the link in my signature line to join the club yourself! Lots of great things going on there!

Hi SkyBlueJar,

love your avatar.

Have you checked the Greenfire Farms website BTW? http://greenfirefarms.com/store/category/chickens/cream-legbar/

day old chick cockerels are currently $19, and females $59 - Isn't that about 1/6 of what they were just a year and a half ago or so. Greenfire would definitely be able to provide you with information, and they are very professional, supportive of this breed, and would certainly know the different 'lines'. Seems like a lot of folks, as someone has said earlier aren't keeping lines separate -- but kind of mashing them together.

Just posted this in another thread, so please forgive the redundancy!

Double check... I think the essay contest deadline is June 10th. Winners of chick contest and of photo contest accumulate points and at quarter end, the person with the most points selects a prize from the prize cache.... Here is a link to the prizes:
https://sites.google.com/site/cream...reasures-from-which-to-select---or-the-prizes

you may need to click on the start arrow of the slide show to see pictures of the prizes..... among which is 1/2 dozen hatching eggs from two different breeders that are club members. Hatching eggs limited to USA shipments only.

Just wanted to say hi to everybody on this thread

I'm here in Utah, and have been so excited with the challenge in getting my Legbar flock up and producing. I have a young, grown roo which I obtained in Idaho, several pullets (and another roo) which were purchased here locally, and more eggs in the incubator, from the Tennessee area.

Hoping to get a couple breeding flocks going.
