Hi, has anyone used dog houses to create chicken coops? I'm attaching pictures of the available dog houses. We currently have an easter egger rooster with a leg injury isolated in a wire dog crate. He is in a fenced backyard with a separate coop for the rest of the flock. His crate was two dog crates pushed together so he could go through to the straw side or be in the side he is in seen in the picture but we had a bad silkie rooster yesterday who chased a broody silkie off her nest and trapped her in the back of the coop and in the corner of the yard another time. He was flogging her and pulling her feathers out so I put him in the crate the easter egger wasnt in until dusk and then put him in the coop. He seems fine now but I would like the option of another isolation pen in case he is bad again. If anyone has ideas or plans of isolation coops or chambers made from dog houses, I would love to see them. My SO is a builder with tools and chicken wire, tin, and lumber and can fabricate something as well so all ideas are welcome. We have 12inches of snow coming in 2 days so that's our limiting factor. Long term we will have a coop big enough that a wire dog kennel can be placed within the established coop for these instances but we wont have that before the storm.
The main circumstantial requirements for the isolation pen are it will be free standing because our coop isnt big enough to place a pen inside, will protect from snow and cold temps, and can be made in 2 days.

Editing to add the part about the nursery: SO is also considering using the dog houses as a nursery with the mama heating pad in a few weeks when our eggs hatch out of the incubator. Any outdoor brooding pens incorporating the mama heating pad setup would be appreciated.

Thanks for any help or input!

Doesn't look like you've gotten responses on this so I thought I'd ask how it's going? "Dog house" caught my eye because indeed my very first coop was a modified dog house and it worked really well for just a few hens. It was wood however. The houses you show I do have the igloo type for my feral cats and it keeps them warm enough. The cages to me are just useful as an outline and nice to have the door but to keep warm they'd have to have alot of material's added. Hope all is well with your Rooster's leg injury.
