What is the best way to mark a chick(s) when the hatch, just had my first hatch out 30min ago appears to be a girl do to dark color.

You can band them, but be careful. The rubber flexible bands come off easily. The ridgid bands need to be replaced as the chick grows or you can run into serious injury. The safest permanent type of marking is toe punching.
