Cucumber pickling questions

I bought the Mrs. Wages pickling salt and there's a recipe on the bag that just calls for the salt, vinegar and cucumbers. Can that be right? Is everything else included in the "salts"? That seems too simple.

I don't think that's right. Is it just pickling salt? You need spices in there too. I may be the only one, but I made Ms. Wages dill last year and we threw them out this summer! No one liked them or would eat them. We thought it was too "fake". Seems like there's alot of coloring, etc. in those packets. You can do it the old fashioned way - there are a thousand recipes on the web. I mainly use pickling spices, fresh dill, mustard seed, apple cider OR white vinegar, a bit of sugar, pickling salt. That's the basic ingredients. BettyR's recipe is very good, but you have to store them in the fridge. For canning, you'll need a water bath to seal jars. Google on the web.
