Hi Jen C - love your new geese from Holderread, especially the young Buff

She's a gorgeous warm colour and I see shes getting a nice dark beak

I do like the Buff Africans but its not always easy finding them in the UK especially with the darker beak. Ours orginally came from Holderread imports many years ago and the lines and colour developed from there

The large knob and dewlap found on Africans of today were probably developed by people for purely aesthetic reasons. Someone bred geese and got something different then usual and so continued to breed for that trait because they thought it looked pretty or cool.

Laurie, I was wondering where you got your white african gander? I have been trying to locate some whites and haven't been able to find anyone that sells them. Well, I found them on efowl.com but haven't heard the best on them so am reluctant to buy...

Jen
