Diatomaceous earth in a tire

I just put some diatomaceous earth in an old truck tire for our chickens. Our run is not covered. Will the D.E. be okay exposed to rain if I just want it as a dust bath for the girls? We used to have a spot by the house they used to be able to roll in but the coyotes swiped two so we can't let them free range as often anymore.

You will want to keep it dry. If it gets wet it is no good for the chooks. You can put it anywhere it will stay dry. They will even likely eat some of it and that is good for them. If the tire is in a dry spot you are good to go.
