WOW! Thats all I can say after finding this thread via my search engine! :thumbsup Nice one! I've been looking at chicken & duck wheelchairs for a gander who has a good left leg and can only move around independently on his hock on the right leg. After x-rays, test's etc, Specialist Avian vet thinks it could be a nerve mass as everything else is ok, he can stand on the leg but the hock gives way if he tries to move. Vet says if it is the nerves it may take 6 - 7 weeks to heal so I was wondering if anyone has any 'Poultry' that uses these wheelchairs and if so, are they likely to get a speeding ticket and can they do handbrake turns in them? 😄
Welcome! Glad you found the thread.
I have not built a poultry wheelchair but I have seen several on this site that had really good luck using them for their disabled birds. If you decide to build one please post pictures as it may help someone in the future.

This thread has some info and pics of stationary and wheeled chairs.
Post #13 has a version that looks pretty easy to build.

Here is a search page with others too.

Thank you, smashing links :)

We had a favorite hen, Hannah who was older and could not walk on her own anymore. Hubby and I built her a wheelchair, and she could 'scoot' on the wood floors and seemed very happy in it for her last year! We even brought it out in the garden with us where she could be with us and see her pals and baby chicks on nice days. We had NO experience concocting something like this. We drew a little sketch and bought what we needed on Amazon. It only took us a few hours to complete the whole thing, and not that much money. Here is Hannah in her "wheelie". It's nice to have it in case any other of our hens or ducks would need it.
