I don't know that there is such thing as a bad roo, I think it just depends on what you are willing to put up with.
I got chickens so my kids could have the experience, so we could have eggs, garden bug maintenance, and for the entertainment value. They free range in a 3/4 acre fenced yard shared with 2 dogs and occasionally 2 bunnies. I don't want to breed them at all, and they don't really need the protection of a roo here. If he had stayed sweet, I would've loved to keep him, I miss his crow But as soon as he hit 5 months, he was too much about claiming his girls and even trying to feed them scraps was a battle. He was a great roo for protecting the hens, but not a great roo for a family flock.
