Droppings board?

I was wondering what everyone uses in their droppings board. I know a lot of people just use the board and scrape it. I was planning on using the kitty little scoop method and wanted to know the best "sand" to use in it.

I haven't done this yet, but plan to soon, Ive heard construction sand, not play sand box sand. Or River rock found along a river. I think we will use a combination of the two. there is a dirt and mulch place near by with piles of sand on the lot, which is construction sand, maybe you have one near you and we will go up the river for some self shoveled river rock.
