Hi all!
This is Patty, and she (he?) is my first experience with an EE. This bird is almost 6 weeks old, got it from Tractor Supply, and thought she was a pullet. I’ve been reading up on EEs and it seems they come in all sorts of colors, and coloring can help a person figure out if it’s a pullet or cockerel. I’m wondering if these pics are good enough for someone out there to help me out in knowing if Patty is instead a Patrick? I tried to get some of the face, side, chest, comb. The raised tail also made me wonder but I’ve seen pictures of EE pullets where the tail is more upright than other breeds so I have no idea what to think.
Thank you!

6 weeks and a reddening comb...I’ll guess male. In my experience, EE girls don’t show comb color until around 14+ weeks of age. Generally EE, male or female, don’t get much wattle growth very quickly so that won’t be a clue. Saddle feathers won’t become apparent until 12+ weeks. The hackle feathers (neck) look fairly pointy. Can’t see the comb very well -is it a pea comb? Often, males have a 3-row pea comb, while females have one row. But, still young at 6 weeks, so best to wait a bit longer for confirmation based on coloration and feathering.

post more pics in 2+ more weeks.

Here are some additional comb pictures but I’ll be sure to follow up on a few weeks. Thanks!

I would have said pullet myself but EEs can be hard and often are "late bloomers". Re-post in a month and let us look again! My EE from Cackle was pretty obviously male at 8 weeks - comb was larger and bright bright red with little red wattles.

Thank you all for your comments, I’ll post again in a while! These birds sure are interesting, I like seeing how the patterns change so much from bird to bird!
