reading about and seeing pics from those of you who do these post hatch on the non hatchers I have to ask the question. Don't they explode when you open them or smell really bad? (never done one..)
 
They only smell bad if decomposition has set in. Normally, they don't smell or explode, in my experience.

Pretty much my exeprience too. Every once iin a while an ealier quitter will be a little sour, but most of the late quitters after lockdown have no smell unless bacteria infection has set in.

Eggs rarely explode. It's nasty when they do, but the ones with that potential are usually the ones (not always but usually) that will start smelling in the bator and you get it out of there before it happens.
