It wouldn't surprise me at all. If you look closely at the wound the edges of skin are pink and clean and not torn - as if an abcess or something had formed a sack that opened up when she was messing with it. Listen, if they have bras for chickens, then certainly this wound can be reoaired with a skin graft.
The after care is what will make the difference, proper feed, grit, etc

[/QUI doubt the vet slaughtered a bird to get their crop.Vet Got a fresh crop from a hen which was just cut and that will be attached via sutures.
