I am thinking about planting a fall cover crop this fall as "green manure". This mix I am looking at has Austrian field peas, Crimson Clover, Hairy Vetch, Annual and Winter Rye. These cover crops are tilled into the soil about a month before planting and they provide a nitrogen and nutrient boost to the soil.
I assume that these are all safe for my hens to eat for winter and spring grazing too. I am thinking I can get a triple benefit. I get the green manure itself, my chickens get greens to forage on and they leave me mini manure gifts in the garden to boot. My only question is if anyone knows if any of these are unsafe for chicken to graze on. I presume they are all safe.
