I have been reading an awful lot about favus lately and still am not clear how to tell if your chicken has favus or dry comb form the cold winter air. Would someone explain this to me? My chickens have what looks like a dry comb, but I want to make sure. IF it is favus what is the preferred treatment for that?

Thanks.

I will try, have never posted a photo on BYC before. That would probably help, I thought about trying to but am computer challenged sometimes LOL. I'll try to figure it out and post one.

Favus is more like scaly, peeling patches than just dry looking. Sometimes it is hard to tell, I agree. I posted a pic of a rooster I purchased who came to me with favus here somewhere. It is on the side of his face, not just the comb.
