Telltale sights of favus

Hey, can anyone tell me what the telltale signs of favus are?I think my chickens might have have it but I can’t be sure because it might just be them having a dry cold this winter. I’ll send a picture soon, but I was just wondering what the telltale signs are other than white spots on that home so I can look at them closer.
 
Favus, a fungal infection of the comb, wattles, and eventually spreading to feathered areas, is white and chaulky. Feathers may recede or fall out. It is treated with miconazole, clotrimazole, or other antifungal creams. Many chickens will get dry flaky combs and skin in winter and when not laying. Here is a picture of a serious case of favus:
