My Coop
I have several birds with whitish/green earlobes and some with white or dark spots on combs too. My rooster also has some dark spots on his comb and is missing a lot of feathers around his neck but I saw one of the hens “grooming” him quite aggressively so ?? The skin underneath the lost feathers looks rough and a bit scaly.

They had a hard snowy winter and were inside a lot in a too-damp shed; we have since moved them out into a brand new coop and they are outside most of the time now. I’m guessing this is favus but hoping for confirmation. Am treating with a farm animal antifungal/antiseptic spray for a few weeks to see if it helps. Birds happy otherwise. Laying. (Do I need to discard eggs during fungal treatment?)

Worst affected hen (she had some frostbite this winter too and tips of comb haven’t quite recovered)

I don’t see anything that looks like favus. Earlobes can have white feathering in some breeds. The one hen may have a few spots from frostbite on her earlobe. I see a few spots on combs that may be healing peck wounds. Antifungal creams do not require any egg withdrawal, but I just don’t think there is any favus. Earlobes may change color, and combs will become paler when they are not laying, and in cold weather skin on combs can be dry.

Being cooped up and frustrated during winter can cause some wear and tear on the birds. The first hen looks as if her tips were a bit frost bitten. Just let it heal, ointments can trap bacteria if it truly is frost bite less is more don’t fuss with it.
Keep an eye on them but springtime’s fresh air and sunshine will perk them up in no time. Best wishes

It only seemed weird because my 2yo hen had never had any whitish spots on her comb and now does. The hen with greenish does lay blue green eggs but the color seemed to be spreading which I also thought was odd.

I’m glad to hear it’s probably nothing- thanks!

I wish I would of taken pictures but I didn’t. My LH had a perfect round black circle on one of her waddles and a tiny one on the other. Best as I could finally figure ... she got pecked super hard and it was a bruise. It Felt fine she actually liked it rubbed. Little scabs and whatnot’s should heal within a reasonable time. Swelling is something to watch for. Good for you, for being proactive and observant.
