My chicks are almost a week old now and they're beginning to feather out. They spent a few days looking like little porcupines, but now they're fluffier than ever. It's so exciting getting to see their colors. Do they always look so frayed during this phase?

Here’s my bobwhites at just under 2 weeks. First with feathers coming in more visible and second show one airborne. Surprised to see that this early.

In a few days they'll be starting to flutter around with their new feathers, so you need to be ready to keep them contained.:thumbsup

With their first feathers, you won't be able to determine sex, but when they molt and their second set of feathers comes in you'll be able to sort them out (if they are pharaoh). Good luck with the ratio!

Head and face feathers coming in. They keep dropping this fine down and TINY feathers during their dust baths. Starting to get an adult silhouette, too. Had to expand their brooder into two (joined by the tunnel you can see in the first pic).

Almost feathered out, just the eyes and under the wings to go, and thanks to the forums here I know what to call their pretty colors. They'll be four weeks old this Tuesday. I've had such fun watching them grow up, it's a shame I won't be hatching any more out until next year.
