Hello All!
Last night feathers flew in an instant. I had my dog on a leash and went to walk him, the duck which had been swimming just a moment before, decided to approach. All I saw were feathers in an instant she was swimming. She didn’t let me near her and I waited patiently for hours until she got out of the water.
Today she did fly and lay. How do I check if the skin was pierced? What do I do if it was? Does loosing feathers hurt her that it may sting? Today she’s chosen a different place to sit and swam only a bit where she usually swims much more. There’s no visible sign of injury and she let me pet her. However she did spend a lot of time pruning her backside under her wing. Is there anything I can apply?
I put some apple cider vinegar in her water and she’s eating well.
my dog is now muzzled and if anyone has any additional advice/tips/ tricks on how to convince a Boykin dog to accept a duck it’s greatly welcome.
Thanks in advance.
