February 2024 Hatch-Along (A time for ♥LOVE♥!!)

I have 2 that pipped the wrong ends. They are still in the egg, but if I help remove shell they bleed. I am leaving them in shell. I have 4 more that are in air cell. (Staggered hatch.) The 7 that are out are in brooder.

Oh my what will I do if I have two that do that? 4 in the air cell ?

yay!!! they are due on feb 13th, correct?

I did eggtopsies on my remaining four eggs, two were quitters and two failed to pip internally. These babies will be preserved in formalin like their siblings before them and also sold at some point. I just... haven't had time these past two weeks between work and caring for my hens, my teenagers (the pullet pen) and the babies in the brooder.

Due on the 15th. Lockdown tomorrow! I've just finished setting up the brooder and checking I have everything for when they hatch

2 chicks working on hatching, 8 and 9. The green egg above is peeping and has a safety hole.

I am going to give them a few days, then they can join the other 7. Waiting on a last egg. This black one's head as it dries looks more red.

This is #10 as the chick is drying, it is getting grayish.

Today is lockdown and to my surprise standing in the kitchen I can hear cheeping! One egg already has an external pip!!

I have removed the turner and now the waiting begins
