February/March Grow-a-long

My two jersey giants. Thinking one male and one female because the tail feathers look so different but I really am clueless on sexing. Must do more research.

Update on my Sussex, hatched February 27th...

I bought ten chicks, wound up with 7 cockerels, 3 pullets.

They finally started roosting up high last week.

Adult plumage is beginning to come in, there are feathers all over the place! šŸ¤£šŸ˜ŽšŸ˜

"Blondie" and "Rita", 2 of the 3 pullets:

Now, where's the April/May Grow-a-long thread? ;) :D

March hatch outside mingling with the February flock. They stay separate and my polish and buff orp are the worst to them! Had to intervene a few times.
The one in the front of the kennel is my Easter egger and Iā€™m thinking Brahma Ameraucana cross. Iā€™m thinking a boy though :(

I've had the April chicks brooding outside, within the coop with the February hatch.

The Sussex seem intrigued with the Dominiques.

On a couple occasions a Dominique would get loose, and get a peck as they'd pass by one of the Sussex.

Today the integration hit a big snag when one of the 9 week old cockerels went after the 2 week old Dominiques in what appeared to be a focused and intentional manner. He pecked them several times before I could grab him. Poor babies were screaming. šŸ˜³šŸ˜±šŸ˜©

The Dominiques appear to be okay, but were understandably skittish even after they were removed from the coop.

Soup, anyone?

Well admittedly a little late but the weather held be off from working on getting their run finished but today was it. They will be 8 weeks old tomorrow. We got rid of Gir and Smitty as they were both roosters, and they weren't on the list of potential keepers.

Gaz, fairly confident a pullet

Dib, also fairly confident pullet

Zombie, cockerel, a few crows been coming out of this one.

Curious, cockerel, heard crowing the first time today

Noire, smaller than the other cockerels but still thinking a cockerel. Good looking boy though.

Chweeper, been thinking pullet since day 1

Quadrube, still thinking a rooster.

Curious is GORGEOUS!

I concur with your guesses on their genders. :)

I need to go through mine of the same age, and decide who stays and who goes. There's a livestock sale nearby tomorrow and I'd like to bring some of the banty cockerels since I won't be keeping those.

Yeah my co-worker has been taking all his roosters to a livestock auction that happens every week or 2 and at least gets a few bucks (6-10) per boy. Sadly I think that will Cuprous fate as my daughter is super attached to Noire.

Still want the boy, I'll be in buffalo NY in a week or so. :gig

Here are my March babies. 1 cockerel for sure, 1 I think pullet, then the other 4 I am iffy on 2 and think 2 cockerels. I think those are pics of all of them. I should have labeled the pics.
