Feeding chicks crushed growers pellets

I'm out of chick crumb and can't get any till after xmas (I live in the city). I've been feeding my day old chicks mashed boiled eggs so far. However, can I crush some growers pellets and feed them that just for a week?

Or is there any thing else I can be feeding them?

A week will not kill them. It isn't likely long enough for the high calcium to have many serious side effects. But.... do get them off it ASAP, and oh yeah, next time?

I know me bad. I was depending on my local city pet shop, they usually have chick crumb but sod's law not at xmas when I need it urgently. I'll be buying a years supply soon s I can get my hands on it.

If they are grower pellets you will be fine. Layer pellets would have too much calcium, but grower pellets will not.
