We get Canyon Towhees trying to build nests up in the rafters of our porch, similar ledge to yours. We put rocks up there on the ledge, seems to deter them. Just don't let the rocks fall on your head. šŸ˜‚

I stuck Masons pig up there for now :gig
I was gonna try to move it to another spot but it was soft and squishy.

I have bundled up chicken wire and stuffed it into holes to keep birds from nesting in certain places.

I ended up switching to safflower seed to keep my starlings off the feeder. I donā€™t get the cardinals and some of the other birds, but with that lot dominating the food I wasnā€™t going to anyway.
I have black oil sunflower seeds in the small bird tube feeders, but safflower in the "house" feeder so it's not a target for blackbirds, grackles, and starlings. I also have a peanut feeder that the woodpeckers, nuthatches, and chickadees enjoy visiting.
