Feeding Wild Birds

I put up two humm'bird feeders yesterday. And I heard a whippoorwill a few nights ago.

I got told off by a hummer today! Poor burd.
I hung the feeders up but hadn't filled them yet. It came up to me on the porch and investigated my water cup that has some color on it, then tried the fake flowers i have out here. No luck there of course. The thing about took my head off as it wizzed by completely urinated.

I need a photo.
I don't see grosbeaks here often. I'm not sure I've ever saw a black headed one.

Unfortunately I don't have any photos but here is the male, the female is more dull looking. The male has a very melodic colorful call, very pretty song!

Do you have the Rose-breasted Grosbeak there? They are pretty too. Once in a while they will wander this far west, I've seen a few over the past decades, most likely migrating north as they don't stay long.
