First time mom to four baby chicks

Hi All,

This is our very first time having chicks as pets and raising chickens in our back yard...
Our babies are four days old and are warm and cozy in their new home under a heat lamp. They are doing well. We have been busy researching on everything chicken related and have come across some amazing and extremely helpful info here on BYC. Still need to build our coop and run... Yikes! Very excited to be apart of this great community.

Buff Orpington : Wonder (named after Wonder Woman)
Araucana : Arial (named after The Little Mermaid)
Cuckoo Maran : Princess Jasmine (From Aladdin)
Light Brahma : Princess Leia ( StarWars)

My four year old son Ray named them all

Welcome to Backyard chickens. Seems to be a prevalence of chicks named for Disney princesses. It's good to have some male versions, just in case some of the gals morph into cockerels. Seems to happen pretty often on here.

Oh no I hope they don't turn into cockerels... I won't be able to keep them if they do. I was told they were all egg laying hens. (Fingers crossed)

It sounds like your son is enjoying the chicks. Raising poultry is a great family hobby, one everyone can enjoy. Better get started on that coop and run because those tiny little chicks grow fast!
