Poor black cats. My vet told me that the shelters sometimes don't let people adopt black cats around Halloween because people do unspeakable things to them - she had one that had a firework tied to his tail.
I have always had black cats it seems and my current big beautiful boy is Nightshade and they let me adopt him at Halloween because they knew me from donating things to the shelter.
Just makes me so upset that people are that cruel to animals.
Yep. Same out here. I loathe people sometimes ~ but then there are always the good guys. I try to look for the good guys.

That's awful. I don't know how people could do something so mean. I personally love black cats. They just look so majestic and mysterious.

Chickens Using Microsoft Teams

We joke a lot around here about the chickens getting together on beakbook. Well today one of my hens crashed a web meeting I was in. Well maybe not crashed. But someone took a picture of their computer screen and sent it to me as proof of what happened.

About 6 weeks ago my group was reorganized and split off to join some other groups and form a new business unit. I have many friends in the group I left and I haven't spoken with a lot of them since the split. They were having their Wednesday team meeting today and it was still on my calendar. So I decided to sneak onto their call and listen in. I did not even turn my camera on so sneaky I thought I was.

It was to no avail. The saw me pop in and right away started excitedly throwing questions at me. What was their number 1 question?

Can we see the chickens?!

Why would they want to see the chickens?

When Covid hit I decided to host a social hour web meeting every Thursday after business hours. Everyone could grab the beverage of their choice and join my call if they wanted to and we would then play those games you use to introduce people to each other. I thought it would help keep us close and we could learn about each other along the way. Of course I hosted the calls from my backyard with the chickens. I guess the chickens were popular. I know the call seemed to be. I always had plenty of people and we all laughed a lot.

So they all knew I had chickens, hence their question.

I was at my desk working but I thought why not. I picked up my iPad, luckily I was not logged in on my computer, and headed out.

The ladies were excited to see me and all swarmed around. I pointed the camera at them and everyone on the call excitedly called out each of their names as they saw them. Well one of my hens decided to hog camera time. You will find out who in a moment.

One of the gentlemen on the call decided that he would change his view of the video stream from little blocks with each person in their own square to what they call auditorium view where the program cuts you out of your video feed and puts you in a seat in an auditorium. He then shared his screen with everyone just so they could see this picture. I have it because someone took a photo of their computer with their phone and sent it to me.

I have blacked out everyone's face to preserve their privacy.

It looks like one camera hog of a hen has gone to college. 🤣

Maybe you should use the chickens as a new icebreaker to get meetings underway.
The problem is you'll probably end up talking about chickens instead of the subject on the agenda.

That is true here too. No black cat adoptions around Halloween. Our black cat used to roam outside. We made him stay inside the month of October every year. Humans can be so disappointing.

All black animals are at a disadvantage in shelters or rescues. May people still believe that black is a bad luck color, especially black cats. It's sad really.
