Guinea ruffled neck feathers

I think they do that to look larger, so that they are more menancing looking. Just my observation of my own guineas.
 
Iv heard it's because of mating or dominance but two that have became friends will also do it but I have no clue I have 4 guinea 2 most of the time have duffle neck feathers I know for sure we have one male possible lyrics 2 but the other 2 are for sure hens and they are 16weeks old
