Anyone know if TSA will allow eggs to be hand carried on the plane these days? All the info I see is older.
Thanks!

I know the answer to that one, just did homework/research on that issue.....
I would be visiting Grandkids in VA in Aug, I live in HI & got that idea. Found a breeder there what was NPIP Certified and AI, next step I emailed (paper trail for my security) TSA & told that fertile eggs are NOT on the threat list that they follow but it's up to the TSO (agent). I've known incidents where the Agents have been known to take sealed jars of peanut butter, beef jerky, boxed candy, boxed pasties, etc.... So I then emailed TSA at the airport that I would be departing, explained that I was told by the TSA office that the eggs are not on the threat list, it's the agents' decision what can pass the inspection point....Well I was given the Ok plus the Supervisor on duty that day would know about this & I'd have their name/info to fall back on in the event there was an issue.
I was told that the eggs would probably be wiped down, not go through the X Ray machine. Yippee! I had checked with State of Hawaii Dept of Ag & they sent me the requirements - Returning to HI I needed to go through Honolulu International Airport so the eggs could be inspected at the Quarantine Station. Problem was my return flight's through LAX, since you're probably not coming to HI you should be good BUT NEED to check with YOUR Dept of Ag, don't know what they require.
Here's the WEIRD part....I can have fertile eggs mailed to me directly (with NPIP Certification) but I can't carry it into HI unless they get inspected. Does that make sense?
Whatever you do, do it in writing/email & get names, print up ALL correspondances to take with you. Good luck and knowing what I know now, next I will return through Honolulu Internation....Only problem is my connecting flight to the Big Island, the Station is open between 8 - 4 and it's quite a distance from the airline terminal and no guarantee how soon they can get to inspection Joys of living in "paradise".
Hello-
So I figured I'd post a follow-up...we were flying out of Sacramento, CA and I really think the size of the airport may have figured into the experience. TSA was not phased at all. I happen to have TSA Precheck so my husband and I were the only people in line at approx 9 pm. They wanted them to go through with the bags said X-ray levels are not a worry to babies and pregnant women so should not be an issue. They did not want to do Hand swab of 24 eggs. Eggs traveled perfectly. Will update on hatch Tate and if any impact from X-ray
