Hard poop encrusted on butt fluff, what should I do?

I actually found this thread by searching on poopy butts because I wanted to see if there was anything else. But it seems pretty common and normal

Yes, it does seem pretty common; I've seen several threads with the same issue since I posted this one. My hens get it every once in a while, and it just cures on its own. I've never given any baths.


I just realized I should have updated the thread:

She's fine now! The poop came off on its own; she molted too, so the feathers are all clean and floofy down there!
