Hello game fowl enthusiast,

I recently received these two very handsome 2 year old roosters as a birthday gift, but I do not know exactly what breed they are? I keep doing my research but for the most part, they all look very similar to different name breeds. The first one was sold to my husband as a Regular Grey and there’s other people who’ve mentioned Red Fox Grey. The second one was sold as a “sweater” but the more re search I do, I come across where sweaters have yellow legs. Another person had mentioned blue face and a third person said hatch McClean. It’s nice learning but definitely there’s much more to learn. If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be great!

They're gorgeous. You really need to get the information from the breeder/seller when it comes to American gamefowl lines. They are not bred so much for color as for type, and so are pretty variable.

Top one looks like a regular grey they are always green legged and straight comb. Obviously he's been trimmed but a closeup of his head can tell if he's pea or straight..
Bottom one Is not a sweater. Sweater is yellow legged. He appears to be from a family of hatch with his green legs and lighter lemon hackles. Which hatch only the owner would know.

Very true. The seller couldn’t give me much information about them. And as far as the second one, another person said he might have been an offspring from a hatch rooster with a Grey hen? So at this, I’m even more confused 🫤

Just so you know out of all the grey red crosses I've done which has been aloooooot they have always looked like grey. They could be a 16th grey and look all grey. Both way breeding. I know what the genetic breeding experts say I'm just saying what actually happened
