Healthy Chickens?

I'm a first time chicken owner, as alot of people coming to this board now are. What I was wondering; How do you tell if a chicken is healthy? I've heard a few things about keel bones. Basically, if you can feel them, that means they're under weight. Is that right? Or does it vary from breed to breed?

Here is the link to the BYC learning center. A lot of your questions will be answered there. There are also a lot of good books available on raising chickens. I like to try the public library first and if I find a book worthwhile, I purchase it.
