Hearing chirping from incubator

First time incubating eggs and now at day 20. I heard a chirp tonight! Does this mean a chick has internally or externally pipped?

Yeah, I wouldn't open the incubator- you don't want the "skin" to enclose around them. Wait a while until you think that there aren't anymore hatching and take it out.

You can open it, just not for long.

It had externally pipped but sadly then died overnight. Too much humidity???
However, 4 others have now hatched successful my. I'm thrilled!

I have 11 hens and most are named. There's Ruby a Rhode island red, Dolly (Parton) and Barba - Easter Eggers named for their hairdo (crest) and whiskers. Then there's Dove a light Sussex named cos she looked like a white dove as a chick. No longer unfortunately as she's broody and vicious if you disturb her.

I like the name Sweetie and Ginger also Hazel is nice too. Just some names that you might like for these little ones.
