The only thing accessible is the 35 watt bulb, but wouldn't have to be red shaded like the lamp?

Well, I've never managed to scorch anything with a bulb under 100 watts (not that I've tried very hard), while I've achieved that many times by accident with 250-watt heat lamps.Okay, that's better. Is a 45 watt floodlight too much? Will it pose a fire hazard more than the 35 watt?
So you're saying the 45 watt is okay? And how about the red part?Well, I've never managed to scorch anything with a bulb under 100 watts (not that I've tried very hard), while I've achieved that many times by accident with 250-watt heat lamps.
I doubt you'll find that a 45-watt bulb has much potential for drama.

As long as it kicks out enough heat to keep those little ones warmed at about 85*, it should be fine.So you're saying the 45 watt is okay? And how about the red part?
The red light is thought to help reduce their pecking at each other.Okay, so it just has to keep them warm. I still don't understand the red part, but it seems okay temporarily, right?
I've never had an issue with chicks pecking each other badly, but I also always make sure my chicks have ample room. So, that means they'll start pecking? Without the red light?
