I work at a vet clinic and we had a person bring in a duck egg that their dog found. It is opened and there's a live duckling in it, it's peeping and moving and appears to be ready to hatch. Should I just let it get the rest of the egg off itself? I have chickens but the only time I've dealt with eggs is when I let a broody hatch out some of her on her own. I have it wrapped in a warm wet cloth inside a box that is sitting on/wrapped partially in a heating pad and he seems to be doing fine. Should I just see what happens? He has not made any progress in his own since I got him this morning and I don't know if he started pipping or if the dog did. I believe it's a wild mallard egg. Thank you for any and all advice!
